My artwork is ceramic based. Ceramics is a very technically challenging material, as there is many different ways in which to use clay to make a piece of functional or non-functional artwork. My work is mostly non-functional, sculptural work. I started working with ceramics when I studied at the Northern Regional College Ballymena (2006). I mostly created hand built ceramics such as pots, bowls, lamps, etc. I then went on to study in the University of Ulster, Belfast (graduated in 2010). My work at the university explored more technically challenging methods of ceramics such as molding, throwing, skilled carving, paper clay etc.In my first and second year at university I focused on mold making and in my final year I started making figurative sculptural work.
My work like many artists is about exploring my point-of-view of the world I live in. I focus on the different issues that affect me and express them to the public in the form of art.
At the moment I am making functional ceramic ware that is for sale to the public.
