My name is Ciaran Headley, and I reside in the beautiful Northern Ireland, surrounded by the serene shores of Lough Neagh in County Antrim. After retiring from my teaching career in 2013, I embarked on a new artistic adventure that would forever change my life
After bidding farewell to my teaching profession, I felt a void in my life that needed filling. In 2014, I enrolled in a foundation course in Art, which introduced me to a variety of artistic mediums. Little did I know that one particular module on ceramics would capture my heart and ignite a newfound passion within me. It was during this course that I experienced the sheer delight of shaping clay with my own hands and witnessing my creations come to life.
As I spent more time at the wheel, I discovered the immense joy and therapeutic benefits of pottery. The rhythmic motion of my hands, the tactile sensation of clay, and the anticipation of creating something unique filled me with a sense of fulfillment like never before. Each piece I crafted became a testament to my evolving skills and a reflection of my artistic journey.
Beneath the surface of my newfound passion, I encountered various challenges along the way. From mastering different techniques to understanding the complexities of glazing and firing, I faced moments of frustration and setbacks. However, I embraced these obstacles as opportunities for growth and continued to push myself outside my comfort zone, allowing me to refine my craft and expand my artistic repertoire.
