Journey. The Story of Yellow Oak Tree Art
Yellow Oak Tree Art
“Yellow Oak Tree Art” comes from the literal translation of the name given to me by students who played soccer ( badly) with me when I was teaching English in a foreign country years ago. They said " That it was easier to go round the Oak Tree than through it" I was there as part of a team of people, teaching English to the students, as well ,we were hoping to bring them the words that bring grace, hope and new life to all of us, from the Bible.
The Yellow in my business name also relates to the colour as it brings, hope, happiness and compassion to those, who it reminds us that God's word brings all three, plus the Sun in the sky, when it shines on us brings us , happiness.
While at school , A level Art, was one of the subjects, I enjoyed the most, but since then had merely dabbled in it until a change in career left me looking for a new direction. I spent a year doing a course in foundation art at my Local NRC in Ballymena, which rekindled my love of art and hopefully some skill!
Typography was part of the course, where I explored, experimented and discovered ideas for shaping and using words in art, so that the pieces not only brought pleasure to the onlooker but also communicated a message to those who look more closely, whether messages of love from the giver of the piece as a gift, memories of a personal event, words of celebration in the beauty of creation, messages of hope, encouragement, grace and love from the Creator of everything good.

Yellow and Oak Trees come together in the words of a well- known song by a band called Dawn and an old American story, which dates back to the American Civil War - a tale of multitudinous yellow ribbons tied around an old oak tree to tell a man, separated from his family by painful, regrettable circumstances, that he is welcomed home.
It is a true illustration of grace and unconditional love.
As I have travelled through life, I have discovered the wonder of grace and the healing power of love like this. I marvel at this beauty bestowed on us daily, and have experienced this expressed in nature.
Nature is healing, comforting and inspiring, from the little Robin chirping from the trees all around me, to the the magnificent, soaring peaks of the mountains that climb upwards to the sky and the heavens.
I want my art to be reflective of this and the God who designed it and speaks through it.
Through the birds, trees, coastlines that surround me in my life
Through man and his skills in stonework, carpentry and engineering.
Nature has always been a profound source of inspiration for me.
With my 'Robin's Robins,' Designs
I capture the delicate beauty of these birds, celebrating the vibrant colors and the joy they bring to our world.
Another of my fascinations is with architecture and the power of words led me to create 'Wordy Buildings.' Designs.
Through these pieces, I aim to blend the beauty of architectural structures with the profound messages of faith and inspiration.
Each building tells a story, both in its design and the words it carries. These can be commissioned for local congregations or to remember family events, like a wedding, christening or someone's final goodbye.
There is much more, in the bounty of creation, to come, plus follow me on my Journey
Thank you for taking time spend, reading my story
I wish you all a beautiful life and be happy with what you have been given
