What's On @ Midtown Makers
Summer Workshops & Events 2024
Welcome to August Craft Month at Midtown Makers! Join us starting on Thursday, 1st August, 2024 for a month-long celebration of all things crafty. Whether you're a seasoned crafter or just starting out, there's something for everyone at this Midtown Makers event.
Come and explore a variety of hands-on activities led by local artisans. Get inspired, learn new techniques, and unleash your creativity in a fun and welcoming environment. Connect with fellow craft enthusiasts and discover unique handmade treasures to take home.
Throughout the month you will have the opportunity to see Textile Art Sandra Streeter’s exhibition ‘Invisible Illness, Visible Stories’, which explores what it means to live with invisible illness.
“I decided to investigate the neurological system to understand where the pain originates. I ground my work by researching Histology, Neurology, and Electro-microscopy Biology to create drawings, collages and samples that could be adjusted to my style as a way to express myself and the subject through bright colours, shapes and embellishments using hand embroidery techniques.”
On Saturday 10th August learn how to crochet with ‘Crochet for Wellness’ in a relaxing and creative session. Discover the art of crochet and how it can benefit your mental health and wellbeing, with tutor Amanda Jones.
Try something new with Shelley Steele, Felt Artist in ‘Wet Felted Flower Wall Hanging’ workshop on Saturday 31st August. Come and create your own unique piece of wall art by turning wool fibres into beautiful fabric.
Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of crafting. Mark your calendars and get ready for a month filled with creativity, inspiration, and plenty of crafty fun at August Craft Month!
